Do you have an appliance that the power cord isn't working correctly? Maybe your dog chewed the cable. Whatever happened, before you throw it out and buy a brand new one, try to fix it with these easy steps.
Tools required: new plug, wire strippers, phillips head screwdriver, utility knife/box cutter.

Step 1. Unplug the appliance and cut the plug off of the cord before the damaged point.
Step 2. Strip the cord about an inch or so to expose the 2 or 3 wires inside the cord.

Take the insulation off the cord with the box cutter or wire strippers.
Cut only the outside insulation at this point and throw the piece away. You'll have 2 or 3 cords (usually white and black with a possible green) on the inside and they'll be sticking out now. See image below.

Step 3. Get the wire strippers and remove about 3/4 of an inch of insulation from the exposed cords. You'll have some exposed copper wire sticking out from the green, black, and white cords. The wire strippers have slots that will fit certain sizes or wire for stripping the insulation off. Be sure to not use a smaller size on the strippers because you'll cut some wire also.
Step 4. Get the new plug and there will be a screw to open the plug. Unscrew the plug and it will fold open.

Step 5. Seeing the inside, like the image above. There are 3 screws, Bronze, silver, and green. Unscrew each screw a few turns without taking them out. There will be a small gap between the screw head and the plate it is screwing into.
Step 6. Get the Black wire, and wrap the exposed copper around the Bronze screw below the head of the screw. After it is wrapped, Tighten the screw to the plate, this ensures the connection is good and also the wire doesn't come loose. Now repeat with the White to the silver and Green to Green.

Step 7. Fold the plug back, make sure the cord is coming out the end with the indention that looks like a half circle and will become a circle when the plug is closed. Tighten the screw back to close the plug and you are done.
Good luck, ask any questions if you get lost during any steps.
